Intrigue INTRIGUE is one of the most successful wedding bands in New England, and they want to be YOUR WEDDING BAND. Great wedding entertainment requires the skills of dedicated and talented singers and instrumentalists, and they've got' em. Betsy Scofield, their beautiful and energetic female vocalist, has been the singer, front person, and MC that musicians have called the best in the business -- and we couldn't agree more. Betsy is a terrific resource for all your wedding reception and party planning needs -- a big bonus when you hire INTRIGUE for your big event. Things Your Parents Will Want To Know (especially if they're paying).
Volume, volume, volume. We're talking about loudness here. We are extremely concerned about this. We keep it down during dinner so your guests can talk to each other. Afterwards, we bring it up for dancing. No problem. Intrigue takes two breaks at a party. The first is when the main course is served to your guests. While everyone eats, we play cool and groovy CD's on our sound system. Our second break comes later, but before the last hour of your party. Meanwhile, we play DJ-style dance CD's to keep the dancing going. We give ourselves about 20 minutes for each break. Before the party starts, when we load in and set up our sound gear, we dress neatly--your guests won't see a bunch of slobs wearing sneakers and jeans. During your reception, Betsy wears formal evening wear, and the guys wear tuxedos. We've been told we have a very "classy" presentation. We like to think of ourselves as seasoned professionals that enjoy what we do. Or, more accurately, a bunch of over-grown kids that can't believe we get paid to play music. Whoohoo! We usually book a party for a standard four hour time period. If you think the party needs more dancing, we are available for overtime. This can be arranged as needed, usually by the half hour, and usually on the spot. Our songlist is extensive, and you'll probably find that we know the songs you want for your special dances (like the first dance, last dance, and dances with parents). If you have a song that you'd like for one of these special dances, and we don't know it, we'll learn it for you, or, if you prefer, we can play the CD by the original artist. Speaking of music, we don't specialize in any one kind. We can't. Our typical audience is allover the board in ages and tastes. So we play lots of different stuff. Our number one goal, though, is to see people dance, so we play music that gets a crowd on its feet.

He began his performance career in the summer of 1973 as a solo artist on Cape Cod. His career underwent dramatic changes during the period of 1974-1978 while he was "on tour" across the United States and Canada with 8 piece showbands, performing on piano, trombone, and voice. The experience of arranging special material for the shows of these bands prepared him for his next venture. In 1981, he arranged and co-produced the musical revue "Lullaby of Swing" which ran in Honolulu, Hawaii from the fall of 1981 until the fall of 1982 with a cast of 12 talented singers and dancers. As production manager, male dance captain, and musical arranger he had to adapt the show to changing personnel. It was during this period that he met Chuck Garrett. Chuck attended The University of Nevada at Las Vegas with a full scholarship and graduated with a degree in vocal pedagogue in 1974. He was raised in Newport, Rhode Island. His first professional experiences were in Newport when, as just a teenager, he was invited to sing with many of the top jazz artists thriving in that city. From Newport he ventured to New York City and performed in Greenwich Village during the late sixties. After receiving his degree, he formed his own "Show Band" and toured extensively across the United States and Canada for the next several years. His uncanny ability to perform accurate vocal impressions of famous singers won him praise across the country. He was featured in the "Lullaby of Swing" musical revue on trumpet as well as voice. Don graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Lowell in 1985 with degrees in both Music Education and Jazz Studies. Upon graduation, he taught music in the Westwood Massachusetts Public School System for four years. While teaching, he also played trumpet and sang with several local bands and appeared on lead trumpet for Gloria Loring in concert with Tony Bennett when they appeared in Lowell. He was fortunate to have been able to study voice with the famous Eddie Watson, the Boston "Guru of Voice". He joined Java Jive in 1989 and has enhanced the group with his strong lead trumpet, dynamic voice, and keyboard technology artistry.
