Sugarfoot & The Brass Kickin Horns | Biographies Lead Vocals-Scott Hand - has studied with some of the top vocal teachers (Sidra Cohn and Phil Priano) on the South Shore. His energy, personality, and stage presence are described with only one word**electric*. He draws his talent and art form directly from some of the best known entertainers such as James Brown, Al Green, Maurice White (Earth,Wind & Fire) and the great Marvin Gaye ..and it shows. Lead Vocals-Amy Henderson - has been singing since she was able to speak. Her earliest "musical" memory is being 7 years old, jumping up and down on her parents bed while eating brownie batter off a wooden spoon and singing A Taste Of Honey's "Boogie Oogie Oogie". Since then, Amy has studied jazz, classical, opera, and pop/rock vocal techniques with voice teachers such as Janice Giampa and Mary Healey. She has appeared in numerous theater productions ranging from Little Shop of Horrors to Once on this Island, has a bachelors degree in Music Business from UMass Lowell, and in addition to bringing her fearless, funky vocals to the Sugarfoot front line, she also writes and performs original music with the popular contemporary folk band Hollow. Inspired and influenced by: Joan Osborne, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Tower of Power (Larry Braggs), Etta James, Aretha Franklin, & Starbucks Egg Nog Latte's. Tenor Sax & Vocals-Mike Buckley - is from New Hampshire and has been studying saxophone since the age of 9. After spending two years at Ithaca College in upstate New York he transferred to the Berklee College of Music where he recently graduated from. At Berklee he has worked with well known musicians such as George Garzone, Dino Govoni, Tiger Okoshi, Darren Barrett, Ed Tomassi as well as many others. He has been in many bands in both New York and Boston including both the funk and jazz genres. Drums &Vocals-Jason Wallack's - fascination with percussion began at age seven thanks to a push in the right direction by his father. His love for music grew from the first beat he laid down as a student in elementary school. His education in percussion then continued into high school, The South Shore Conservatory, and then he took it one step further to Berklee College of Music. He is the foundation of Sugarfoot*s sound and has a great ear for harmony and melody. Alto Sax-Mark Zaleski - Mark has been a professional musician since he was 13 years old. He has perform various styles of music ranging from the blues, R&B, jazz, classical, funk, klezmer, and rock. At the age of 18 he was one of six people in the country to be selected to study at the Dave Brubeck Institute Fellowship Program in Stockton, CA. There he got to share the stage with some of the world's greatest musicians including Bennie Maupin, Mic Gilette of Tower of Power, Robin Eubanks, Eric Harland, Ndugu Chancellor, Geoff Keezer, Christian McBride, and Dave Brubeck. He recently returned from a tour with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and can be heard throughout New England with his jazz quartet. Currently he studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.His major influences include Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Paul Desmond, Joe Henderson, Jerry Bergonzi, Bill Evans, and Christian McBride. Guitar & Vocals-Michael Lecuyer - is a full time working guitarist and music educator. He received his music performance degree from UMass-Lowell and has done graduate studies at Gordon College. He's currently holds music faculty positions at Dean College, Northern Essex Community College, Franklin High School, Newburyport High School, and Sacred Heart School (Lynn MA). While Michael performs proficiently in many styles of guitar (rock, jazz, classical, and blues), the energy, soul, and excitement his playing brings to Sugarfoot & The Brass Kickin' Horns is second to none and pure enjoyment for audiences to experience. Bass-Mark Michaelson - has been driven by his love of music from a very early age. He began playing guitar at the tender age six. Years of dedication to his craft has paid off. Mark studied at the South Shore Conservatory (Paul Shemski of Wildest Dreams), Roger Williams College, Marshfield High School and with other private instructors. Playing live has been a creative catalyst for his talent and he enjoys the excitement of the crowds response to the band. |
